Fibre
Channel (ANSI X3.230) communication is now available at gigabit speeds
for both fiber optic and copper cable applications. The Wintriss
Engineering Gigabit Fibre Channel Board is compatible with standard PCI
bus configured personal computers and incorporates the Texas Instruments
TLK 1501 bi-directional, serial, point-to-point transceiver chip.
Applications include imaging and vision systems, satellite communication
systems, test equipment and military applications.
Balanced, twisted pair Fibre Channel copper cables can be used for runs
up to 200 meters, and runs of up to two km are possible with fiber optic
cables. A compact PCI version of the board is also available.
