SAN DIEGO, CA-November 29, 1999-The new Web RangerT
high-performance linescan inspection system announced by Wintriss Engineering
delivers the complete, turnkey solution for 100%, real-time surface inspection
of paper, metals, plastics and other continuous manufacturing processes.
The PC-based system provides real-time flaw mapping, flaw image display,
web imaging, trend analysis and report generation. High-speed, high-resolution
linescan cameras with built-in FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) image
processing and a built-in PowerPC are connected by Ethernet in an array
and synchronized to capture 100% of the surface area of the moving materials.
Continuous, real-time inspection of web processes reduces scrap through
instantaneous defect detection that can result in dramatic improvements
in process yield. It can provide data and analysis for process quality
improvement. Additional benefits include reduced labor costs and elimination
of manual inspection errors.
The system is capable of detecting and mapping a wide range of product
and process defects, including: stains; streaks; coating flaws; tears;
edge cracks; pin holes; slivers; blisters; roll, press and scuff marks.
At the heart of the Web Ranger system is an array of Wintriss OPSIS 5150ALC
smart cameras. These cameras each provide 5,000 pixel resolution, 7,500
lines per second (lps) at full resolution (and up to 175,00 lps at reduced
resolution), built-in pipeline vision processing, and real-time digital
and analog outputs. The system provides seamless, synchronized multi-camera
processing at up to 40 million pixels per second. The complete Web Ranger
System includes:
