| News Release Packaging Company’s Wintriss High-Res Video Inspection System "Puts A Lid" on Production Line Errors and Rejects SAN DIEGO, CA—February 28, 2000—Wintriss Engineering Corporation announced that it recently installed one of its OPSIS 1300AS MegaPixel™ Vision Systems at a large East Coast packaging company that makes a variety of paper and plastic container lids for both food and non-food items. The high-resolution video system employs a multi-position, template-matching algorithm to ensure the print quality of the container lids as they pass by the camera in various orientations at a rate of four per second. The system also checks for incorrectly labeled lids, scratches, embossing problems, proper centering of injection-molded plastic around each lid, and other QC parameters. Among other benefits from installing the system, the user expects to eliminate the palletization of incorrectly labeled lids—a costly error that requires scrapping the entire batch if even one incorrectly labeled lid is included in the pallet.
