The lighting system shown includes 150-watt
metal halide lamps which produce 300,000 lux uniform illumination
(over twice the brightness of sunlight) via a fiber optic lightline
and glass rod lens. Each lamp enclosure contains its own power supply.
The cable coming from each lamp box is the fiber optic cable which
feeds the lightline (the long rectangular enclosure in the front).
The frame supporting the light boxes carries cooling/purge air to
each box. The purge air is also directed over the glass rod lens via
an air knife to keep particles from accumulating on the lens.
The lighting configuration and type depends upon the material and
type of defects to be detected. The different configurations available
include: 1) Back light; 2) Front light diffuse; 3) Front light specular;
4) Dark field; 5) Oblique |
