Founded in 1989, Wintriss Engineering Corporation initially provided custom engineering services for many customers in such diverse markets as instrumentation, consumer packaging and industrial machine design. Through a series of projects, Wintriss developed expertise in the application of high speed digital cameras to perform optical tracking of various objects. Initially, this expertise was concentrated in the use of line scan cameras to detect objects in motion but was later applied to industrial surface inspection applications. With the introduction of the Web Ranger surface inspection system in 2000, surface inspection became the core business of Wintriss Engineering. Through its subsidiary, Wintriss Inspection Solutions, Wintriss Engineering has developed proprietary techniques for the inspection of all types of continuously processed materials including nonwovens, specialty papers, electrical materials and especially, optical films. With over 200 installations in North America, Europe and Asia, Wintriss Inspection Solutions has a worldwide presence and is recognized as the leading provider of systems for the inspection of all types of high grade optical film.
Concurrent with the emergence of its surface inspection business, Wintriss Engineering continued to apply its optical tracking expertise to the sports industry. Following the early development of a tracking system for a golf simulation application using infrared LED technology, Wintriss began applying line scan technology to sports imaging. Using this technology, tracking systems were developed for customers for an archery target practice game, a live fire weapons training system, ice hockey shooting practice and a soccer game. Later, matrix camera technology was used to create a high precision, stereoscopic golf ball tracking system that was used for laboratory development of golf equipment by a major golf company. More recently, Wintriss has developed a new generation of golf ball tracking products incorporating advances in sensor technology and using our own patented algorithms and innovative techniques. We continue to focus on developing new applications for our innovative technology, expanding the market for our growing family of golf products and developing custom sports imaging solutions for OEM’s in the sports industry.
